Glaucoma - Ayurveda Management

What is glaucoma?

It is a disease, generally associated with the pressure rise inside the eye, certain to lead to blindness if not detected in an early stage. In a normal eye the watery fluid, aqueous humor, circulates freely and excess goes out through an exit. In cases of glaucoma, the exit develops some obstruction, and it causes damage to the optic nerve.

PRESSURE SORES STAGES

According to ayurveda glaucoma is best correlated with a condition described as adhimantha, and is of 4 basic types: vata, pitta, kapha and rakta.

Generally speaking, vata regulates retinal nerve function, whereas kapha specifically nourishes the eye and pitta acts to drain it in context with adhimantha.

Any of these symptoms may require immediate treatment:

o Halos around bright lights
